Spices for your Kitchen Pharmacy
Even after Ayurveda school, it took me years to unlock the magic of using kitchen spices in an effective and targeted way for specific conditions. Now I always try to make sure clients have these tools to work with first, because they’re the cheapest, most accessible Ayurvedic medicines and…it’s just really fun to go to your kitchen for your healing, and empowering to see that connection because you learn with some specific advice you can start dramatic healing!
You’ll learn when you should select fresh ginger over dry powdered ginger, and vice versa. And I break down the Ayurvedic priciples of each spice, including:
- fresh ginger
- dry ginger
- black pepper
- cumin
- fennel
- coriander
- cinnamon
- cardemom
- clove
Also, distinguish spices that are more in the sweet category, the huge difference between the effect spices that are building and nourishing, and ones that are reducing and stripping away. And very importantly, learn the key ways Ayurveda uses to describe and understand any herb, plant or substance.
